Looking Back...

Let's hope I can get through this post (and this week) without a nostalgic breakdown.........

Well, I've reached the end folks! The final week of the final semester of my final year of undergraduate studies is upon me. Classes have concluded and the only thing standing between me and graduation are two exams, one on Monday (accounting) and one on Tuesday (environmental economics). Next Saturday I will graduate from Michigan Tech with a BS in Applied Ecology and Environmental Sciences (communications concentration) and a minor in Environmental Studies.

The past few weeks have been a world-wind on emotions. The culmination of my time here at Tech has involved a lot of reflecting on past memories (good and bad) and has included a lot of lasts; Last USG meeting, last ResLife staff meeting, last RA program, last paper, last homework assignment, last time exploring the beauty of the Keweenaw. I am certainly sad, as I will soon be leaving all that I have here at Tech; amazing friends, a great school, great opportunities to get involved, and wonderful places to go adventuring and get outside. It will be very difficult to leave such a wonderful place that I have grown to call home. It has been an amazing four years!

However, at the same time I am more ready than ever for graduation! Graduation ceremony is just around the corner and, if you haven't heard, I have been selected as the Student Commencement Speaker. I will be giving a speech during my own commencement ceremony....I'm so excited! It is an absolute honor to be selected, and while I am slightly nervous, I am pretty excited to get to participate in my own ceremony. You all can watch live online by clicking this link. The ceremony begins at 10:30am ET on Saturday May 2nd, 2015.

This week will include my two finals, packing up, lots of time spent with friends (old and new) and lots of time relaxing and soaking in all that is Houghton.

For all of you who are curious, I have not been placed at a National Park Service Site yet. Don't think that I am leaving you all out in the dark....I will be sure to share with you all where I am geographically headed as soon as I know :)  Hopefully this week sheds more light on this topic. Please keep me in your prayers as I really hope things turn out how I would like them to!

I will end with saying that I started this blog four years ago for the purpose of keeping people back in MN up-to-date with my doings while at school. It is bittersweet to be writing the last blog related to my college experience. I will continue to blog into the foreseeable future and continue to post photos.

Know that I appreciate the support I have received from you all. Whether you realize it are not, you have made a difference in my life, so thank you.

Sending the last of my messages from da UP,
Kyle
